No-exam life insurance
Eligibility for fast-track underwriting, how the process functions, and what happens if you do not qualify.
A growing number of carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants within specified age and coverage limits, approval decisions are made using your application, pharmacy records, driving history and other data instead of a medical exam. Some approvals arrive the same business day. Each quote displayed on this site shows whether an exam is required, potentially required, or not required for that specific offer.
What it changes
Omitting an exam is not omitting underwriting. Your application answers are fact-checked, and a policy issued with false information can be challenged during its first twenty-four months. If a carrier's data review raises flags, it may still require an exam or lab tests; you can decide at that point if you want to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants in their fifties or younger, applying for coverage up to the carrier's accelerated limit, with no significant health conditions and no tobacco use within the past year. Some carriers will use recent doctor visit bloodwork in place of an independent exam.
When an exam is required, a paramedical professional typically visits your home or workplace for a twenty to thirty minute appointment at no charge. For healthy individuals, the results can actually improve your rate classification, which means an exam may work in your favor rather than against you.
